The test that was being conducted was taken in around three phases (one paper was being conducted in each of the phase) that would be comprising of mainly objective type questions that will be asked in two distinct sessions. As per the official information that has been declared on UGC’s official website. The first session of the written exam will comprise of two phases – Paper I and II in the exam would be carrying around 100 marks each. In the Paper I of the exam that would be including 60 questions out of which only 50 are to be attempted by the candidates, whereas in the Paper II that will include 50 questions ( which all are compulsory). The allotted duration of time is around 75 minutes per paper in the exam.
Whereas the second session of the exam consisted of only one paper (Paper III) that will be carrying around 150 marks. The Paper III would be having only the 75 questions (all of them were compulsory) for which, candidates were given a maximum of around 2hour 30 minutes in the exam.

The questions that were asked in the Paper I timing was (9:30 am to 10:45 am) questions in the exam were mostly of general nature, the questions were aimed to evaluate the candidates ability in research/teaching aptitude, comprehension, reasoning ability and divergent thinking in the various field mentioned. For each correct answer attempted by the candidate, there was two marks that were awarded.
In the Paper II (timing was from 10:45 am to 12:00 pm) question will be of 50 objective type questions – all the questions in the exam were compulsory – from the options of subject that was selected by the candidate. Each correct will earn the candidate two marks.
In the Paper III (timing was from 1:30pm to 4:00 pm) that will include around 75 objective type questions (each carrying of around two marks) from the subject selected by the candidate. In this paper also all questions were compulsory.
